STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Michelle Solone placed 23rd as the lone UC Davis finisher in the fourth section of the women's 5,000-meter run at the Stanford Invitational track and field meet Saturday. She crossed in 17 minutes, 52.02 seconds.

Teammate Lorin Scott also was entered in the race, but did not finish. Kim Conley, who competed for UC Davis in 2005 but is redshirting the 2006 season, was 20th at 17:36.88.

Almost most of its team was at the Cal-Nevada State Championships at Fresno State, UC Davis sent a small group of distance runners to compete in Stanford's accliamed distance carnival. Junior Chris Ferren-Cirino highlighted Aggie action on Friday, placing second in the fourth section of the men's 5,000 with a career-best 14:22.40. It was the fastest Aggie mark since All-American Mark McManus set the school record at 14:13.95 in 1997.

UC Davis' Patrick Parsel and Joel Bosserman also competed in Friday's portion. Parsel was seventh in the same 5K section as Ferren-Cirino, posting a personal record of 14:34.96. Bosserman was 35th overall in the `B' section of the men's 1,500 at 3:58.18.

The Aggie track and field teams return home to host the second-annual Causeway Classic dual with Sacramento State on April 8.
