DENVER, Colo. - Junior midfielder Kristie Leggio scored eight goals with a pair of assists for 10 total points to lead Denver University to a 20-5 win over UC Davis in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse action Saturday. Leggio had half that output in the Pioneers' 10-0 start to the contest.
The Aggies drop to 1-3 for the season, and remain winless in the MPSF at 0-3. Denver improves to 4-2 overall, and 1-0 in conference.
Seniors Tanya Fuchs and Stephanie Greenlees also provided some offensive punch for the Pioneers, scoring four and three goals, respectively. In addition to its 10-0 start in the first 22 minutes of play, Denver also enjoyed a stretch of six unanswered goals in the second half.
Five different UC Davis players scored one goal each, starting with freshman Jessica Luckhardt, who had the Aggies' lone goal in the 13-1 first half. Sophomore Katie McGovern opened the second half with a free-position goal at the 32:02 mark. Katie McMahon, Tiffany Lee and Patrice Clark each scored in a 3-0 run late in the game for UC Davis.
The Aggies return home for to host Long Island on Monday, March 13. They will also host a neutral-site contest between Bucknell and Columbia before their game that afternoon.
