THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Louie Bishop had an opening-round 3-over par 74 on Monday while Nate Pistacchio shot a 75 as both UC Davis golfers later moved into a 51st-place tie when play was suspended due to heavy rain in the second round of the Ashworth Invitational, hosted by USC at the North Ranch Country Club.
The UC Davis men's golf team had a first-round score of 310 at the par-71, 6,742-yard course but slipped during the second round and was 49-over par when play was halted just past the midway point of the second round. The Aggies are in 15th-place, two shots behind Fresno State.
Washington shot an even-par 284 in the first round, one shot behind Pepperdine, but overtook the Waves before play was suspended and currently leads at 1-over. Pepperdine is two shots back and Georgia Southern is four shots off the pace. Anthony Kim had a 6-under 68 over the first 18 holes and is currently at 3-under.
Bishop had a pair of birdies to help him shoot 74 in the first round while Pistacchio was even over the back nine on his way to a 75. Both are currently tied for 51st place. Erik Hill is 11-over and tied for 61st, Ramie Sprinkling is 21-over and tied for 77th, and Matt Muscara shot 84 and is currently 24-over.
Play will resume at 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning with the completion of the second round before final-round play begins later in the day.
