RENO, Nevada - Senior Sara Clinkenbeard won the women's shot put with a school-record throw of 14.65 meters, or 48 feet, three-quarters of an inch, to highlight UC Davis action at the Holiday Inn/VS Athletics indoor track and field meet at the Reno Livestock & Events Center Saturday.

Clinkenbeard's throw surpasses her previous mark of 14.25, or 46-feet-9, set two weeks ago in the Silver State Invitational. The mark puts her shy of the qualifying standard to the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships in Boston, Mass.

Clinkenbeard, who won three state titles for Sacramento City College two seasons ago, was one of a six-thrower Aggie contingent at Saturday's meet in Reno. She also placed seventh in the weight throw with an effort of 16.78 meters, or 55-0.5.

Senior Kim Gleeson also participated in both throws. She went 12.91 (42-4.5) in the shot put, then 14.55 (47-8.75) in the weight throw. Judy Sheldon and Marisa Parker competed in the weight throw, posting marks of 14.39 (47-2.5) and 13.50 (44-4.5), respectively.

Junior Tyler Porter and freshman Buck Sullivan represented the UC Davis men at the Holiday Inn meet. Porter went 13.73 (45-0.5) in the shot put for his 2006 debut. Sullivan went 13.76 (45-1.75) in the weight throw.

Saturday's meet concludes the UC Davis indoor track season. The Aggies unofficially launch the outdoor season with the Blue-Gold Intrasquad meet on February 25, then officially open on the weekend of March 2-4 at the Chico State Multi and the All-Cal Cup Challenge.
