49ers Dominate Aggies In Three-Game Sweep

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Junior outside hitter Rosie Lewis posted a match-high 14 kills and had five of her team's 20.5 blocks to lead Long Beach State to a 30-15, 30-26, 30-13 sweep of UC Davis in a non-conference women's volleyball match at the Walter Pyramid in front of 1,626 Friday.

The Aggies drop to 2-12 on the season. The 49ers, looking to return to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25, improve to 9-3.

Freshman outside hitter Chantal Paschetta had nine kills to lead UC Davis offensively. No other player had more than five kills, while the team hit a season-low minus-.069, committing 30 errors on 102 attempts.

Sophomore middle blocker Alexis Crimes pounded out 11 kills for a .500 hitting average. She also had eight total blocks for the Beach. Senior middle Erika Chidester added 13 kills, a .550 efficiency rate and six blocks. Freshman outside Ali Daley contributed on six blocks, including a pair of solos.

The Aggies had 11 kills as a team in Game 2 while capitalizing on 10 49er errors to close within 26-24 and 28-26 deficits in Game 2. However, Long Beach hit .367 in Game 1 and a staggering .548 in Game 3 while the UC Davis hitting numbers hovered in the red during those games.

The Aggies face another future Big West Conference foe in UC Irvine Saturday night.
