LAWRENCE, Kan. - Ramie Sprinkling shot an Aggie-best 72 on Tuesday during the final round of the Kansas Invitational, which was played at 7,092-yard Alvamar Golf Club.
Host Kansas held onto the lead from Monday to seal the win with a three-shot lead over Tulsa. Kansas finished the 54-hole tournament with a 12-under 852. UC Davis finished 9 shots behind fifth place Western Kentucky and 3 shots ahead of seventh place finisher Illinois State. The tournament medalist was Western Kentucky's Robby Shaw who shot a 10-under 206 in the three rounds.
UC Davis, which finished sixth after shooting a 295 team score on Tuesday, finished with a 3-over 867 with Sprinkling being the only Aggie to shoot at least par in the final round. He finished at 1-over 217, tying for 22nd. Nate Pistachio, who was the leading Aggie after Monday's two rounds, ended the tournament with a 75, tying with teammate Erik Hill for 28th overall. Hill matched his second round performance firing a 1-over 73 on the final day.
Brett Borchers, who posted a team-best 68 in Monday's second round, ended the tournament with a 75 tied for 51st place. Steve Strong shot a pair of 72's on the first day of play but was unable to continue the streak, finishing today's round with an 83 and an overall finish of tie for 63rd.
The Aggies will return to action Oct. 3-4 when they compete in the Club Glove Intercollegiate, which will be held in Somis, Calif.
