BERKELEY, Calif. - Sophomore Angie Pressey had 13 kills, hit .750 offensively and served up six aces to lead 19th-ranked California to a 30-15, 30-16, 30-20 sweep of UC Davis in a non-conference women's collegiate volleyball match at Haas Pavilion Saturday.

The Aggies move to 0-2 on the season. The Golden Bears open at 1-0.

Cal enjoyed a 51-17 advantage in kills, hitting a torrid .361 as a team. Additionally, the Golden Bears amassed 13 aces and seven total blocks.

UC Davis was led by freshman Chantal Paschetta, who knocked down five kills against no errors in nine hitting attempts. Junior middle blocker Katie Wilson provided offensive punch off the bench, tallying four kills. However, the Aggies hit just .013 for the match, committing 16 attack errors in the three games.

Cal started the first game on a 14-1 run and never allowed its guests closer to 11 points in that frame. Wilson stepped in as a UC Davis starter in the second game, helping her team hold a 6-6 tie in the early going. However, Pressey had four kills and a block during the next stretch, giving the Golden Bears a 12-7 lead they would not relinquish.

The Aggies held their only lead of the match early in the third frame when middles Jenny Pierce and Kelly Patterson combined for a block against Cal senior Alicia Powers to take an 8-7 edge. The Golden Bears pulled away behind the serving of Pressey and Powers to move ahead by a 17-9 margin. Freshman Kat Reilly had all four of her block assists in the third frame to help Cal finish its sweep.

UC Davis returns home for the Aggie Invitational on September 2-3, hosting Toledo, Idaho State and Washington State.
