Aggie senior Brett Borchers carded a final-round, 7-over-par 79 to place 24th overall at The Club Glove Intercollegiate men's golf tournament at the 6,985-yard Saticoy Country Club Tuesday. Borchers was the top finisher for UC Davis, which placed ninth as a team with a total score of 953.
Sophomore Ramie Sprinkling, who was tied with Borchers for 23rd place entering the day, slipped to a tie for 38th at 239. Rounding out the Aggie lineup was senior Erik Hill, tied for 43rd at 242; sophomore Nate Pistacchio, tied for 46th at 243 and junior Louie Bishop, who ended in a tie for 52nd at 246. Pistacchio had the team's best third round, posting a 4-over-par 76.
San Diego State won the 12-team event with a final total of 893, claiming the top two individual finishers. Aztec junior David Palm edged teammate Josh Warthen in a one-hole playoff to capture the individual title. Both players finished at 4-over-par 220.
UC Irvine was the highest-finishing member of the Big West Conference, taking fifth at 324. The Aggies edged Big West member UC Riverside, which was 11th at 957; and Cal Poly, which finished 12th at 963. UC Davis will become an official member of the Big West Conference in 2007-08.
The Aggies return to action on October 17-18 for The Prestige at PGA West, hosted jointly by UC Davis and Stanford in the famed La Quinta, Calif. course.
