Rozanne DeWeese Named Aggie Women's Soccer Assistant Coach

June 28, 2004

DAVIS, Calif. - Rozanne DeWeese has been hired as the women's soccer assistant coach, it was announced today by head coach MaryClaire Robinson. DeWeese replaces three-year assistant Megan Strom, who resigned this spring to pursue her master's degree.

DeWeese's primary responsibilities in her new role will be recruiting, on-field instruction, coaching and assisting with the administrative functions of the soccer office. She arrives at UC Davis following four years as an assistant women's coach at Indiana State University, where her duties included on-field coaching, team travel and recruiting coordinator. She served the previous three years as an assistant at Cal State San Bernardino, coaching against the Aggies when both were members of the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Additionally, DeWeese has served as assistant coach on the Indiana State Olympic Development Program's Girls '86, '87 and '89 teams, along with serving on the Indiana Youth Soccer Association Coaching Education Staff.

"We are excited to attract and hire a person with the qualifications that Rozanne possesses," said Robinson. "As we continue our transition to Division I, Rozanne's experience at the highest levels of soccer are going to benefit our program greatly."

As a player, DeWeese played collegiately at Cal State San Bernardino, finishing her career tied for third goals (27), and ranked fifth all-time in points (61). A three-time All-CCAA honoree, she was a CoSIDA All-West Academic All-American as a senior along with being the school's 1997 Scholar Athlete of the Year and an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.

UC Davis begins its 2004 season Aug. 29 against Cal Poly at Aggie Field.
