PITCH SIDE
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UC Davis held firm early as Pieper made multiple saves in the opening minutes, denying attempts from Natelle El Mokbel and Ameera White to preserve the scoreless start
- The Beach however continued testing Pieper, eventually finding the breakthrough in the 29th minute when Cherrie Cox converted off an assist from Jordan Candelaria to take a 1-0 lead
- UC Davis pushed forward late in the half, earning a corner and seeing a high attempt from Sydney Bushman sail just over, but the Aggies went into halftime trailing 1-0
- The Aggies came out aggressive to start the second half, with Brooklyn Tanon firing just wide in the 48th minute
- Farrell followed with a shot on frame in the 60th, but Aurora Schuck made the save for Long Beach State
- Pieper on the opposite end responded with a diving stop minutes later to keep the deficit at one
- Despite late chances from Farrell and McKay, and the great set piece effort in the 89th minute, UC Davis couldn't find the equalizer as Long Beach State held on for the 1-0 win
