THE SHORT STORY:
UC Davis battled early and leveled the match in the first half behind a goal from Lisette Gregoris, but Cal State Bakersfield's attack proved too much down the stretch, scoring twice in the second half to take a 4-1 win on Thursday night.
PITCH SIDE
- Gregoris scored her second goal of the season in the 22nd minute, assisted by Sarah Canavan
- Canavan led the Aggies with two shots, including one on target
- Canavan is also now tied for fourth in the Big West with four assists
- Goalkeeper Cat Pieper made five saves, her third straight match with five or more saves
- UC Davis created multiple second-half opportunities, including late chances from Gregoris and Karla Sandoval
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bakersfield struck first in the 17th minute when Isis Salazar-Ortega finished a close-range chance to give the Roadrunners an early lead
- UC Davis responded six minutes later as Gregoris connected off a pass from Canavan to equalize at 1-1
- The hosts regained control in the 27th minute with a goal from Jaiden Gore, taking a 2-1 lead into halftime
- The Roadrunners extended their advantage in the 59th minute when Cynthia Ramirez scored, assisted by Daniela Osejo, before Kim Garcia added a fourth in the 66th minute
- Despite a late push from the Aggies, highlighted by shots from Gregoris and Sandoval, UC Davis was unable to close the gap, ending the match at 4-1
