The Short Story: UC Davis women's tennis got a quality start to its 2026 fall schedule, taking home six singles wins over UC Santa Cruz and three doubles wins over Sac State in day one of the Central Valley Clash on Friday, Sept. 25.
 
COURTSIDE

• Many new Aggies made their debut today, including transfers Elim Yan and Ramey Yu, who paired up in doubles court one.
• Each freshman also got wins on the day, with Lyla Van Loben Sels winning in both singles and doubles while Eva Wang achieved a singles win and Delilah Rizvi got a doubles victory.
• Aileena Hu and Penelope Wong made up the returners who played in day one, with Hu competing on both courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Starting the day in the doubles courts, Yan and Yu fought hard to get their win, while Hu and Van Loben Sels combined for a quick 8-2 victory.
• Moving over to singles competition to wrap up the day, each Aggie was able to easily slip past their opponents, with none allowing more than two points from the Slugs.
• With four different players not allowing a single point in a set, Davis swept all six singles courts to go a perfect 9-0 on the day.
