PRIOR TO UC DAVIS

A local product from C.K. McClatchy across the Causeway, Van Loben Sels has proven to be a top level competitor throughout her career, winning two Sac-Joaquin Section Tennis Individual Championships, proving herself among the best players in the area.

During her first such tournament in 2022, she defeated every opponent except for one on her way to the championship, also helping her team win their first of four consecutive Metro League championships. She also picked up three straight Metro League MVP's as a sophomore, junior, and senior.

Along with her excellent play, Van Loben Sels has already given back to her community in a number of meaningful ways, serving as one of five coaches for JAMMA Sacramento, a local tennis clinic designed to help the next generation of athletes develop their game.

Brother Emon currently plays for UCLA's men's team. Fun facts include that she plays the trumpet and was in Girl Scouts for 12 years. Her favorite movie is Monty Phyton and the Holy Grail and her sports hero is Alysa Liu. Her career plan is to become a nurse. Chose UC Davis because of the atmosphere at the school and on the team. Everyone was very welcoming and gave the school a very homely feeling.
