DAVIS, Calif. — Following stellar performances at the Bronco Invitational,
Dominic McMahon and
Gracie Trenam have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Freshman of the Week and Women's Athlete of the Week, respectively, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
McMahon was named the Men's Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Trenam secured Women's Athlete of the Week recognition—marking the first conference weekly honor of her career.
Trenam delivered a standout performance in Santa Clara, shattering her previous 6k personal record by over two minutes. The sophomore paced the Aggies with a lifetime-best time of 21:07.5 to cross the finish line in 22nd place overall, propelling the UC Davis women to an eighth-place team finish.
On the men's side, McMahon continued his impressive start to his collegiate career. The freshman led the Aggie men to an eighth-place finish of their own, pacing UC Davis for the third consecutive meet with an 8k time of 24:39.8 to finish 42nd overall in a competitive field.
With Trenam's recognition and McMahon's back-to-back selection, UC Davis has now collected three Mountain West weekly awards during its inaugural season in the conference.
