DAVIS, Calif. — Two goals from a trio of Aggies lead the attack for UC Davis men's water polo against No. 4 Cal on Sunday, Sept. 13. Despite this, the Ags would fall 7-19 to the Golden Bears.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After seeing the Golden Bears strike first a minute in, Thomas Kiesling found the back of the net for his first of two on a powerplay to tie it up.
- Cal would score six more to close out the first period, broken up by a Gabe Bensen score to make it 7-2 in favor of the road team after one.
- Kiesling got on the board again to open period number two, looking to close the deficit.
- But the Bears continued to tack on the scores with the next four of the game.
- Lucas Wulfhorst and Lucas Ruano scored their first with a minute to go in the half, with Ruano getting his off an assist from his brother Mateo Ruano.
- Down 5-11 entering the second half, Davis saw Wulfhorst get on the board once again six minutes in.
- With three seconds remaining in regulation, Ruano cashed in his second of the day, but Cal would score eight in the final 16 minutes of action, leading them to a 19-7 victory.
UP NEXT: The Aggies will now spend next weekend across the Bay in Stanford to participate in the annual MPSF Overnght Invite from Sept. 18-20. Matchups and game times will be announced early next week.
