DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis football and the Harvard Crimson have announced a home and home series between the two Big Sky and Ivy League programs, with the Aggies making the cross-country trip during the 2027 and Harvard scheduled to make the return trip in 2031.
Â
UC Davis will visit Cambridge, Mass., on Sept. 18, 2027, while the Crimson will make the trip to Davis on Sept. 20, 2031.
Â
"We have always wanted to play an Ivy League opponent and more specifically Harvard," said head coach
Tim Plough. "Our shared commitment to performance on the field and in the classroom has always felt like the makings of a fun matchup. This has been years in the making, and we look forward to the challenge. We hope this is a game we can continue for years to come."
Â
While the Aggies already have connections with Ivy League programs, most recently with the additions of graduate transfers
Jacob Psyk (Harvard) and
Derrell Smith-Porter (Dartmouth), this will be the first time UC Davis has faced an Ivy League team on the gridiron. It will also be the 10th game (11th when factoring in the 2025 no contest against Mercer played in Montogomery, Ala.) the Aggies have ever played east of the Mississippi River and it's the second time the Aggies will play in the state of Massachusetts having visited Northeastern in 2008.
Â
The Aggies become the third Big Sky team all-time to face an Ivy League opponent, joining Cal Poly and Montana State. Cal Poly sits 1-1, having beating Brown in 2018 and lost to Yale in 2013 while Montana State knocked off the Bulldogs last season during the 2025 FCS Playoffs putting the Big Sky at 2-1 all-time against the Ivy League.
The trip to Cambridge in 2027 by the Aggies will also mark the first time a Big Sky team has ventured into the Northeast to face an Ivy League school with the other three games being played at the Big Sky locations.
