Women’s Basketball Adds Davidson Transfer Angeliki Ziaka Ahead Of 2026-27 Season

DAVIS, Calif.  — As the team prepares for competition in the Mountain West next season, UC Davis women's basketball head coach Jennifer Gross and her staff have added backcourt depth with the signing of former Davidson Wildcat, Angeliki Ziaka.

After a WCC All-Rookie campaign with San Francisco in 2025, Ziaka spent her sophomore season with the Wildcats, appearing in 29 of the teams 33 games off the bench while helping the team advance to the A-10 semifinals.

In addition to her Division I play, Ziaka also brings years of overseas experience to the Aggies, playing in the A1 Greek League, the highest tier of basketball in the country, for the Panathinaikos U16 and U18 teams from 2020-24, winning a league title for the U16 team in 2022 and for the U18 team in 2023. She was also named league MWP for her efforts in 2022.

Internationally, she also brings leadership after serving as team captain for the U18 Greek National Team during the 2024 Qualifying Round of the Euro Championships. In seven games with Greece, she played 27 minutes per contest while averaging over two steals.

"Angeliki is an exciting playmaking guard who is capable of scoring from all three levels." Head Coach Jennifer Gross said. "In addition to her scoring, she has a high basketball IQ and is excellent at pushing the ball in transition and setting up teammates for open shots."

"Off the court, we could tell right away that she is the type of high character person who will add to our strong team culture. We are very happy to welcome Angeliki to the UC Davis Women's Basketball family!"
