THE SHORT STORY: UC Davis erupted for 16 hits and built a commanding 11-2 lead through eight innings before holding off a furious Nevada rally for an 11-9 victory Tuesday night at Peccole Park. Seven different Aggies recorded at least one hit, with Ethan Felix, Braydon Wooldridge, and Joey Wright each collecting three. Felix delivered the knockout blow with a three-run homer in the seventh, and the UC Davis bullpen navigated a six-run Nevada eighth to secure the win.

LEADING OFF

• Ethan Felix finished 3-for-5 with a three-run homer to deep left field in the seventh inning and three RBIs to lead the Aggie attack.
• Joey Wright went 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI, and was hit by a pitch, reaching base in all four plate appearances.
• Braydon Wooldridge also collected three hits, going 3-for-5 with an RBI single in the fourth that capped a four-run inning.
• Tyler Howard drove in two runs on a double to right center in the fourth, and Kai Mault finished 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and a walk.
• Jack Pezzolo earned the win (1-1) with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, striking out two and not issuing a walk.
• Peter Storjohann was the steadiest arm out of the bullpen, tossing 2.0 scoreless, hitless innings with a strikeout and inducing a double play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Nevada struck first in the bottom of the first when Jayce Dobie doubled down the right-field line, moved up on a walk, and scored on a Jacob Doyle RBI single through the left side to make it 1-0.
• UC Davis answered with two in the second. Keenan Anzai was hit by a pitch to start the rally, Ethan Felix singled up the middle to put runners at the corners, and Eli Burnham delivered an RBI single to left center to tie it at 1-1. Wright followed with an RBI double down the left-field line to push the Aggies ahead 2-1.
• The Aggies added another in the third when Mault walked, Wooldridge singled, and Elijah McNeal lined an RBI single through the left side to make it 3-1.
• UC Davis blew the game open with four in the fourth. Everet Johnson was hit by a pitch, Burnham singled to center, and Wright laid down a bunt single to load the bases. Howard ripped a two-run double to right center, Mault grounded out to second to plate another, and Wooldridge singled through the left side to cap the inning and push the lead to 7-1.
• Nevada got one back in the fifth on an RBI groundout to make it 7-2, but UC Davis responded with a three-run seventh. Wooldridge singled, McNeal singled to center to put two on, and Felix launched a three-run homer to deep left field to make it 10-2.
• Mault added an RBI double to left field in the eighth to extend the lead to 11-2.
• Nevada mounted a six-run rally in the bottom of the eighth, highlighted by a three-run homer from Sean Yamaguchi, to cut the deficit to 11-8. Yamaguchi added a solo shot in the ninth to make it 11-9, but Rowen Barnes got the final out to end the threat.
