The short story: UC Davis softball got some power from
Naomi Kalanetra but would still fall in its series finale against Hawai'i in the Big West opening weekend.
LEADING OFF
- Kalanetra provided a home run for her lone hit of the game
- Gia Felice, Alysaa Dethlefson and Marley Panziera each added a hit to the mix for the Aggies
- Felice added a stolen base and she reached on a hit by pitch
- Caroline Grimes made the start and threw three innings, while Ashley Sawai (3.0) and Ellena Ediss (1.0) each came in to provide relief
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hawai'i got runs in the second on a two-run home run and they added three in the fourth and four more in the seventh to build out its lead
- Kalanetra's home run came in the second inning when she took a 1-2 pitch over the center field wall to make it 2-1
- But Hawai'i's runs over the next five innings would not be matched by UC Davis giving Hawai'i its series win
