IRVINE, Calif. – On Sunday UC Davis softball senior Gia Felice tied both a program and Big West record when she recorded five hits in a single game and on Monday, Mar. 23 the conference rewarded her performance by naming her this week's Big West Field Player of the Week.
 
It's the first time in her career that Felice has earned the weekly nod from the conference and she becomes the second Aggie this season to gain the award joining Alyssa Dethlefson who earned the nod on Feb. 23.
 
During the Aggie series sweeping win over CSU Bakersfield on Sunday, Felice, who batted leadoff all weekend, was a force going 5-for-5 with three runs scored, one double and two RBIs. Felice became the first Aggie to get five hits in a single game since Sarah Axelson reached the mark in 2010 and she became the fifth Aggie to ever get five hits in a single game.
 
The five-hit performance is also the seventh time an Aggie has had a game with those numbers, with Trisha Reinhardt accomplishing the goal three times in her career to go along with Axelson, Emily Hetnzer (2004) and Jenny Hall (1999). It also ties a Big West record, as she becomes the first Big West batter to get five hits in a game since 2018 when Long Beach State's Naomi Hernandez accomplished the feat.
 
Over the three games that saw the Aggies sweep CSU Bakersfield, Felice slashed .700/.727/.800 and she added a pair of stolen bases. She was also perfect in the field, making three putouts and recording five assists while fielding 1.000 percent over the three games.
