The short story: UC Davis softball dropped its first game of the day, falling to Nevada despite strong relief pitching out of the pen from both
Ellena Ediss and
Maia Scholtens in the second day of the Capital Classic.
Â
LEADING OFF
- Ediss provided three scoreless frames, striking out one while allowing just one walk and one hit
- Scholtens tied things up on the back end, throwing two innings of no-hit ball, striking out two while allowing no runs
- Alyssa Dethlefson led things off for the Aggies, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doublesÂ
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nevada scored its runs in the first two frames, jumping ahead 4-0 after the opening two frames, they were aided by a three-run home run in the first and another run in the second
- While the Aggie bats did have trouble getting going, Ediss and Scholtens settled right into the game when their number was called
- Ediss would allow just the one walk and one hit, and in her first inning of work she set the tone when she sat the Wolfpack down in order
- Scholtens had the same impact as Ediss, allowing just two walks in her two frames of no-hit workÂ
