The short story: In a tight contest where UC Davis softball held Santa Clara scoreless throughout the heart of the game, the Aggies fell just short losing in their second game of the day at the Saturday edition of the Capital Classic.

LEADING OFF
- Caroline Grimes went the distance, giving up two earned runs while striking out four across her seven innings of work
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Santa Clara scored its opening run in the first and got additional runs in the fifth and seventh innings to build out its eventual 3-0 lead
- But, throughout Grimes did not make it easy battling through each frame, keeping the Broncos off the board through the middle parts of the game allowing the Aggies to stay within striking distance throughout the entire game
