Jane Fox and
Catie McCauley gave UC Davis lacrosse their first victory of the season in a 13-6 win over Florida State on Sunday, Feb. 15.

OPENING DRAW
- Fox led all players with seven total points (four goals, three assists). She also set career highs in all three categories.
- McCauley recorded her first points since her freshman year, missing all of last season to injury. It's also the first hat trick of her career.
- Lauren Picardi, Cami Johnson, and Holly Smith each recorded a pair of goals to round out the scorers for the Aggies. Both of Picardi's goals came off of free position attempts, while Johnson gets her first two goals of the season.
- Annie Cimperman was fantastic in the circle, winning 10 draw controls.
- In her first collegiate win, Emily Altshuler stayed stout in goal, collecting five saves and two ground balls while playing all 60 minutes.
- In addition to a high offensive explosion with nine goals in the second half, the Aggie defense was equally as strong in the final two quarters, holding Florida State to two goals with none in the fourth period.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After seeing the Seminoles get on the board first, Johnson found the back of the net for her first of the day.
- Five minutes later, Picardi got her first of the season off a free position attempt to give UC Davis their first lead of the day.
- In the final minutes of the first period, Florida State struck again to see the score tied at four apiece after one.
- The back-and-forth affair continued into the second quarter, where after the Seminoles went up one, Smith took a ball from Ava Horrocks to tie things up once again.
- With a minute left in the first half, Johnson responded to an FSU goal as the teams entered halftime tied 4-4.
- Coming back onto the field, Johnson got her third point of the day on a pass to Fox for her first goal.
- After the Seminoles responded with a quick strike, the Aggies began to take control of the contest with a 3-0 run that featured one goal from Smith and two from Fox that gave them an 8-5 lead.
- Florida State would get one back, but UC Davis would enter the final period of play with an 8-6 advantage.
- Quarter number four began with another free position by Picardi, pushing the lead back up to three.
- A 5-0 run over the course of the period was capitalized by three points from McCauley and four from Fox, with McCauley getting all three of her goals and Fox getting a goal and assists on all three scores from her teammate.
- The Aggie defense would hold strong in the final 15 minutes, giving the home team a 13-6 victory in their first win of the season.
UP NEXT: UC Davis will have a quick turnaround as the Aggies travel out to Boulder, Colorado for a neutral site game against Cornell on Tuesday, Feb. 17. First draw is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. PT and the game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
