LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC Davis women's water polo wrapped up the Triton Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 1, in a loss to the Michigan Wolverines. The Aggies finish the 16-team tournament in 10th place.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • However, senior Liberty Massman brought the quarter to a 2-2 tie with just over two minutes to spare in the period.
  • In the second quarter, the Wolverines netted two back-to-back goals before junior Bridget Miller scored the first goal of the period for the Aggies.
  • Junior Chelsea Johnson added another goal to keep the pressure on, but Michigan answered back to close the half, sending the teams into halftime with the Wolverines leading 7-4.
  • The Wolverines came out of the break with momentum, netting three uninterrupted goals in the third to bring the score to 10-4.
  • Johnson was able to net her second goal of the contest for the Aggies in the fourth frame, but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback as Michigan added one final goal, closing the game with a final score of 11-5.
