RENO, Nev. — A complete night on both sides of the court from UC Davis volleyball gave the team a sweep of new conference rival Nevada in Reno on Thursday, Oct. 22.

FIRST SERVE
  • The sweep marks just the third time this season that the Aggies have dismantled a foe in three sets this season.
  • Offensively, Davis was paced by Isabella Umpierre once again, who collected 14 kills, hitting double-digits for the 18th time in 20 games.
  • She also continues to lead her team on the service line, collecting two aces tonight.
  • Allie Caldwell was effective on the block, collecting five total blocks to lead her club.
  • In the backcourt, Ximena Cordero Barr had 12 digs to lead all players.
  • Mia Starr made the offense go with 35 assists. This marks the 16th time she's had 35+ in a single match this year.
  • The best all-around player tonight was, once again, Ally Chandler with 12 kills, three blocks, and an ace.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Taking advantage of opposing errors to get on the board early, the first Aggie point belonged to Starr on a service ace for a 6-6 tie.
  • With Umpierre and Chandler leading the attack, Davis went on the advantage with a 6-1 service run, pushing their lead by as much as four.
  • The road team continued to pace this lead through to the end of the set, with Chandler's first block coming on a 3-0 run to close out a 25-18 win.
  • Set number two started similarly to the first, with the Ags keeping pace with the Wolf Pack on errors by the home team.
  • Tied at eight apiece, Davis kept their opponent at arms length with back-to-back kills from Chandler leading to a 5-0 run capped off by another point from Chandler on a service ace.
  • Nevada battled back late with rallies from their offense, but attacks from Umpierre, Chandler, and Brooke Hibino closed out the frame with a 25-20 win and 2-0 lead in the set.
  • Momentum stayed on the road team's side in set three, as a 6-0 scoring run jumped them out to a 7-3 advantage.
  • Despite the deficit, the Wolf Pack refused to back down, slowly cutting into the Aggie lead to get as close as two, 15-13.
  • Both offense and defense played a huge role late, as Chandler and Gianna Bogan combined on a kill to hold a six point lead.
  • Up 24-18, Davis looked to end things off. But Nevada looked to play upset on three straight points, getting into the redzone at 24-21.
  • One rally later, the referees ruled a kill in favor of Hibino before Nevada challenged the call. After a review, the Aggies retained the point, securing a 25-21 win and a 3-0 sweep.

UP NEXT: The Wolf Pack will make the trip to Davis in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 24. First serve will be at 11:00 am PT and the match will be streamed on MW+.
