UC Davis Posts Top Rate Of 994 As Part Of The NCAA’s 2023-24 APR Report

DAVIS, Calif. The NCAA has announced the NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate for the 2023-24 academic year, with UC Davis once again setting the pace with an impressive yearly rate of 994 another improvement from last year's number placing the Aggies above the national four-year average of 984.

"This year's APR rate demonstrates the hard work and dedication our Aggie student-athletes put into their studies and overall academic goals," said Associate Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Advising Laura Goldhammer. "Our coaches, student-athlete advisors, and really the entire department are committed to supporting our student-athletes and ensuring that they are champions in the classroom and their sport."

UC Davis finished the academic year up three points from 2022-23's single year APR rate of 991 showing the continued dedication the Aggies show in the classroom. Part of the reason for the high Aggie numbers were perfect scores of 1,000 from 18 Aggie programs:  men's and women's water polo, golf, soccer, basketball and cross country along with volleyball, beach volleyball, lacrosse, swimming and diving, field hockey, softball and women's tennis all hit the 1,000-score mark.

Each academic year, every Division I sports team's APR is calculated using a simple and consistent formula. Scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for staying on course for a degree in their chosen major and 1 point for being retained (or graduating) at the end of each academic term. For schools that do not offer athletics scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
