The short story:
Lauren Picardi led the way with four goals as the UC Davis lacrosse team fell 10-16 to the Florida Gators on Friday, Mar. 28.
Â
OPENING DRAWÂ
- Picardi's four goal game marks the second time this season she's secured a hat trick, scoring three goals against East Carolina on March 12.
- Alannah Scott also had a multi-goal game, scoring two free-position goals on the night.
- Scott and Annie Cimperman led the team in draw controls, picking up five and four, respectively.
- Ally Richardson-Pepper had a sturdy game in net, having 18 saves and picking up three ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- After the Gators scored the first four goals in the game, Natalie Markman took a pass from Alex Agnew to the back of the net to put the Aggies on the board.
- Picardi's first of the day put the home team within two, but Florida got another one on the board to end the first period up 5-2.
- At the start of the second, Agnew and Scott each scored to put their team as close as three, but a 3-0 run from the Gators put them up 10-4 at the end of the first half.
- Coming out of the half, Picardi secured her second of the day off of a free-position attempt.
- Audrey Carr followed that up with a goal of her own, but Florida stayed hot on the offensive end, going into the fourth up 14-6.
- Despite the deficit, the Aggies remained aggressive offensively, opening the fourth quarter on a 4-1 run and forcing their opponent into a timeout and a goalkeeper change.
- The team continued to attack, but that would be as close as they would get, ultimately falling 16-10.
UP NEXT: The Aggies head out east as they prepare to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday, Apr. 4. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
