DAVIS, Calif. - On Tuesday, Mar. 25,
Tova Sabel,
Megan Norris, and
Sydney Burns of the UC Davis women's basketball team were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the second straight year, recognizing their achievements on the court and in the classroom.
To be honored as Academic All-District selections, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and be at least sophomores both academically and athletically. Nominated student-athletes must also compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.
Making the cut for her senior season, this is Sabel's fifth recognized individual achievement of the 2024-25 season, previously landing on the First Team All-Big West Team, the 2025 Big West All-Tournament Team, the Week 9 NCAA Starting Five, and the Big West Player of the Week for Jan. 6. This is also the third All-Academic honor for Sabel, who was named to the 2021-22 Academic All-Big Ten honors during her sophomore season at Penn State.
This season has been one of numerous milestones for Sabel, who has climbed her way to second place on the Aggies' all-time three-pointers list with over 200 and passed 1,500 career points against UC Irvine on March 6. She ended her career in fifth place on the all-time scoring list with 1,576 points.
Hailing from Menlo Park, Calif., Norris has also collected a number of accolades throughout this past season, including Second Team All-Big West and Big West Player of the Week back on December 23. In 2024-25, Norris has found herself in the top 10 of many statistical categories in the conference, including scoring (10), rebounding (3), field goal percentage (1), and blocks (3). In a non-conference game against Santa Clara on November 24, Norris set a new career-high with 30 points in the Aggies' overtime victory over the Broncos.
Burns finds her way onto the All-District team after a season of many firsts, finishing first on the Aggies in assists, steals, and free throw percentage, while also passing 100 rebounds in a season for the first time in her career. Against UC Riverside back on January 30, Burns secured her first-ever double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
