SPOKANE, Wash. -  The Ags record a dominating day one showing at the MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships, garnering six individual finishes in the top five, and inking multiple names into the UC Davis archives.
 
"The ladies had a good day on the track with two new school records in the pole vault and the 200 sprint, and we also saw two conference title wins in the 5k and long jump" explains head coach Ngoni Makusha.
 
"There were numerous personal best marks and podium finishes, which is a great start to our champion weekend. I really look forward to seeing how we finish tomorrow."
 
Adding to a train of history with a generational first place title, Barrett is the fourth UC Davis athlete to win the 5,000 meter event in a row: Hope Bergmark earned the title in 2022, Sierra Atkins in 2023 with the MPSF Spokane Era Record, and Brianna Weidler in 2024. Now, Barrett makes her mark in first place with a 16:24.39 finish, digging a whole eight second trench between herself and the second place finisher.
 
Junior transfer Kadidja Sangare has proved to be a powerhouse for the Aggies this season, and she's done it again with a first-place finish in the long jump event. She recorded a personal best with a leap that lasted 5.97 meters. This performance also nestled her into the Davis record at second.
 
Junior Maya Shinnick has already been a spark for the Aggies in the 400 meter dash this season, but has elevated her game into the 200 meter event. Posting fifth place in the MPSF Champs event, Shinnick secured her spot in the Davis record book with a time of 24.08; breaking the first place title time by .06 seconds. The record was initially set in 2015 with a time of 24.14.
 
Senior Sarah Graessley reached new heights and set the new Indoor Davis record for her performance on the pole vault. She cleared 3.96 meters in her third flight, securing fifth place in the event and smashed the old 3.90 record initially made in 2017. Sydney McCann earned tenth overall as well, her 3.51 meter flight capped off the top ten performers.
 
The distance medley relay squad put themselves at fourth in the Davis recordbooks as well with a stunning performance to close out the day on the track. Grace Dunham, Cierra Kinsey, Maddie Kackley, and Dominika Janik posted a time of 11:42.79 to secure 6th place in the event.
 
Senior Ashpreet Kler had an impressive flight in the Weight Throw, taking fourth place in her final indoor meet of her career. With a throw that sent the weight 16.86 meters away, she secured fourth place overall. Junior Hailey Hernandez earned tenth in the event as well, her 15.71 meter performance rounding out the top ten finishers.
