SEATTLE, Wash. - The team had one last chance to show out before the rapidly approaching MPSF Indoor Championships, clocking multiple top ten finishes and personal bests.
"We had a good weekend as we prepare for the MPSF Championships that are coming up" says head coach Ngoni Makusha. "We had multiple personal best marks across all events, including an equaled 4x4 relay school record and
Maya Shinnick improving her school record in the 400 meter race."
Last time she competed, junior
Maya Shinnick broke the previous indoor UC Davis record in the 400 meter dash at the Nevada Invite. The record was initially set in 2001 and was broken by Shinnick with a time of 54.67 towards the end of January. This time around, Shinnick improved her time and crushed her own top-notch time with a 54.20.
HOW IT HAPPENED (FRIDAY):
A group of seniors led the charge on day one in Seattle, posting multiple top-ten finishes for the team with their performances across multiple events.

Sarah Graessley had the highest place finish of the team for the day, earning fourth place in the pole vault with a 3.85-meter flight.

Lauren Spellman earned seventh in the high jump event, while junior
Elizabeth Churchill tied for eighth place.
Senior Maddie Kackley collected a personal record in the 3,000 meter run with a 9:26.94. Also senior
Shae Hill set a personal record in the long-haul 5,000 meter run, clocking a 17:11.85.

Ashpreet Kler placed sixth in the weight throw, while junior
Hailey Hernandez landed at eighth.
Kadidja Sangare was fast over the hurdles, posting eighth with an 8.98 second trip.
HOW IT HAPPENED (SATURDAY):
There were five personal bests recorded on the final day of the Husky Invite, and two event debuts.
Shinnick posted second place for her record-breaking event in the 400 dash. Speedy sophomore
Cierra Kinsey was fifth place in the race with a 56.36, and
Ashleigh Christy placed ninth with a personal best of 57.30.
Sangare placed fifth in the long jump, and
Riley Lankford was ninth in the event.
Brianna Nunn had a personal best and a tenth place result in the shot put, throwing 13.27 meters.
Matching the current Davis indoor record, a power squad comprised of
Cierra Kinsey,
Maya Shinnick,
Dominika Janik, and
Ashleigh Christy earned third place with a 3:45.05.
UP NEXT: The team will travel back up to Washington at the Podium to compete in the MPSF Championships from February 21-22. "I am excited to see how everyone competes next weekend in Spokane" says Makusha, following the great showing the Ags had at the Husky.
