The short story: 18 kills from Jade Light led UC Davis volleyball to their 13th conference win of the season in a match against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Nov. 8. 13 wins tie the program record for the most wins in conference wins in a season.
 
FIRST SERVE

• 18 kills from Light marks the 10th time this season that she's posted 15+ kills in a match. She also had two aces and three total blocks.
• Mia Starr orchestrated the offense with 44 assists, the eighth time she's had 40+ assists in a game this year.
• Allie Caldwell protected the net with four total blocks.
• Ximena Cordero Barr was the defensive leader with 30 digs on the day, just the second time in her career she's had 30+ digs in a game.

WHAT HEAD COACH DAN CONNERS HAD TO SAY

"We got off to a slow start today. We settled into the match late in the first set and carried that momentum through the rest of the match.  We certainly could've played cleaner volleyball throughout, but in the end, we figured it out a way to win."

 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Davis started the match going back and forth with their opponents, with kills by Kendall Rogers and Breeze Czapinski putting them within one, 7-8, early in the match.
• Fullerton then went on an offensive explosion, using a 4-0 run to help them jump out to a 17-10 lead.
• The scoring runs continued for both teams, with Davis using runs of 4-0 and 4-1 to come within two, but the Titans would edge out the road team and secure a 25-22 set win.
• Coming back on the court for set two, the Aggies turned it on offensively and defensively, with points from Light and Ally Chandler getting things going early and blocks from Caldwell and Brooke Hibino helping build a double-digit lead.
• Back-to-back service aces from Cordero Barr put the Aggies up by as much as 13 as the team would cruise to a 25-12 win and tie the match at one apiece.
• UC Davis started the third set similar to the second, rolling to a 12-5 lead early with offense from Light and Chandler.
• The Aggies kept it going with a service ace from Haden Bones to build their advantage to double-digits before another service ace from the hands of Laela Burgess gave her team another 25-12 victory and put them on the brink of the win.
• Fullerton's offense bounced back in the fourth, building an 11-9 lead despite two early kills from Chandler.
• But Czapinski came alive with back-to-back kills to help her team retake the lead.
• Both clubs continued to battle with a scoring run of 6-2 from the Titans that was followed by a 6-0 Aggie run to put them on the brink, 23-19. 
• Fullerton got one back, but attacks from Light and Czapinski wrapped up a 25-20 win and a 3-1 victory for the Aggies.
