Â
OPENING TIPÂ
- 10 points and 10 rebounds from Burns marked the seniors' first-ever double-double. She also had two assists and one steal.
- Norris also notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, the fourth time she secured a double-double this season and the ninth of her Aggie career.
- Norris also tied her season-high with three blocks on the night.
- Tova Sabel also blocked three shots in the game to go along with 11 points and five rebounds.
- Tonight's win was number 250 for head coach Jennifer Gross, putting her two away from breaking the all-time record of 251 set by former Aggie great Sandy Simpson.
WHAT HEAD COACH JENNIFER GROSS HAD TO SAY
"It was a hard-fought win, Riverside played really hard and brought a ton of pressure. I was really proud of our composure in the second half, especially down the stretch. We took care of the ball and executed on defense and offense."
Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- After the Highlanders scored the first four points of the game, a three from Sabel opened the scoring for the Aggies.
- In the last three minutes of the first, with Davis down 7-12, Bria Shine cashed in on five straight to tie the game at 12.
- A layup from Norris a minute later gave the Aggies their first lead of the night, with the home team up 15-14 at the end of the quarter.
- A back-and-forth affair in the second quarter saw the score tied at 19 apiece going into the media timeout.
- On the other side of the break, both teams continued to stay effective, with field goals from Mazatlan Harris and Nya Epps keeping the Aggies within striking distance.
- However, they would go into halftime down 25-27.
- In the third, the defense was the name of the game. Both teams combined for four lead changes, and a layup from Ryann Bennett gave Davis the 38-35 lead going into the final quarter.
- The start of the fourth saw the Ags continue to build their lead with free throws from Burns.
- But the Highlanders refused to go away, connecting on back-to-back three-point plays to put them within three halfway through the period.
- However, this would be the last time Riverside scored, as the Aggies would rattle off eight straight points to put the game on ice and pull out a 52-41 victory.
