DAVIS, Calif. – For the first time since 1934 and only third time in program history UC Davis and UCLA will meet on the gridiron as both schools announced, on July 10, a pair of games set to be played in 2027 and 2029 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
The Aggies and Bruins will meet for the first time this century on Aug. 28, 2027, when UC Davis packs up Shredville and visits the Rose Bowl. UC Davis returns to the Rose Bowl on Sept. 1, 2029 for the second matchup of the two-game set.
"We are thrilled to announce our series with UCLA and the opportunity to play in front of our many alumni and friends living in Southern California," said UC Davis Director of Athletics Rocko DeLuca. "UC Davis football is experiencing tremendous momentum, and we eagerly anticipate the matchup between two of the nation's top six public universities at the Rose Bowl for multiple seasons."
When the Aggies make the trip in 2027 it will be the first time in program history that UC Davis takes the historic field in Pasadena, as the previous two matchups played over 100 years ago in 1934 and 1932 were played at a different location in Los Angeles, Calif. UCLA holds a 2-0 advantage in the two games played previously.
"This is a great addition to the future of our scheduling," said UC Davis Football Head Coach Tim Plough. "Being a Southern California kid the Rose Bowl always has been a special place in my heart. Becoming bowl eligible in the Rose Bowl last season with Cal and Coach Wilcox will be a memory I cherish for a long time. Excited for our players to have the experience of competing and finding joy in a special venue."
UC Davis opens 2024 at Cal on Aug. 31 and UC Davis Health Stadium on Sept. 7 against Texas A&M-Commerce. Fans can buy
