LEADING OFF
- Tyler Howard followed in Nick Leehey's footsteps, becoming the second straight Aggie to record a 5-for-5 game as the freshman from San Diego also added 3 RBIs and a double in his standout performance
- Noel Valdez continued to be a quality start machine, surrendering just two runs, both earned, on seven hits, walking none and striking out two across 6.0 innings
- Mark Wolbert and Riley Acosta also collected multiple hits for the Aggies, each going 2-for-4
- UC Riverside was led offensively by junior Cole Koniarsky, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI
- On the hill for the Highlanders, Matthew Flores tossed 5.1 innings of one-run baseball
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning
- Nick Iverson came across to score the lone run of the inning for UC Davis, scoring from third on a double-play
- The Aggies lost the lead they built in the third, but got back on the board in the seventh to make it 2-2 with Howard's two-out RBI double
- UC Riverside broke that tie and took a 4-2 lead heading into the eighth, when UC Davis narrowed the gap to 4-3
- The Highlanders expanded their lead to 5-3 before the UC Davis offense got back in action, tying it up in the ninth
- The Aggies drove in two runs when a single from Howard brought home Wolbert and Alex Gouveia, tying the score at 5-5
- UC Riverside then scored one time in the bottom half of the ninth to break the tie and grab the 6-5 win in walk-off fashion
