IRVINE, Calif. — Kelly Hungerford scored three goals, but the Aggies fell 11-9 to No. 8 UC Irvine on Saturday, dropping to 0-4 in Big West Play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After several scoreless minutes following the Anteater's opening goal, Hungerford received a pass from Sam Yoo to get the Aggies back level in the first quarter. 

UC Irvine threw in two more scores before Madi Sparre registered a goal off a feed from Hungerford. The host side responded quickly, but Sam Yoo kept the Aggies within one with a powerplay score. 

Hungerford dented the twine for the second time just before the end of the first half, following two goals from UC Irvine, to bring the Aggies within two scores at the break.

The Anteaters started strong in the third quarter, scoring the first two goals and building an 8-4 lead. Hungerford completed her hat trick, but Irvine went back on the offensive, tallying another score before the end of the quarter. 

Gianna Nocetti started off the Aggies' fourth quarter resurgence, as UC Davis outscored the Anteaters 4-2 in the final period. Grace Pelkey scored twice, while Chelsea Johnson added a goal, but the UC Irvine lead was too great and the Aggies could pull no closer than two goals.
