LONG BEACH, Calif. — The UC Davis women's water polo team fell on the road against No. 7 Long Beach State on Friday night, 14-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aggies (8-15, 0-3 Big West) recovered nicely from a slow start, with Chelsea Johnson and Ali Giusti slotting in goals to bring UC Davis back from an early 2-0 deficit. 

Bridget Miller and Grace Pelkey continued the Aggie scoring run in the second quarter, putting in back-to-back goals to open the period. 

It was all Beach from there, though, as Long Beach turned the game on its head, rattling off three straight scores to take a 5-4 lead into the break. 

Miller scored again in the third, but the Long Beach offense didn't slow down, posting four more goals in the quarter. 

Kelly Hungerford scored to start the fourth quarter, but Long Beach countered that with three of their own to open a commanding 12-6 lead with five minutes to play. 

Maddie Sumner tossed in a score, but the Beach finished the affair with two more scores to solidify the 14-7 final.

Nellie McAdams finished with seven saves in the goal and a steal.

The Aggies remain in Southern California for another game against a Big West foe. UC Davis takes on No. 8 UC Irvine on Sunday, Apr. 7 at 12:00 p.m.
