Damian Stone powered the offense to a 9-3 win over Saint Mary's, snapping the Gaels five-game win streak to improve the Aggies to 18-20 on the season.
LEADING OFF
- Damian Stone drove in three RBIs for the Aggies, finishing his day 3-for-5, as he was just a double-shy of the cycle
- Tyler Howard, Nick Leehey and Alex Gouveia also contributed to the hitting efforts, each collecting a pair of hits as the Aggies totaled 12 on the day as a team
- UC Davis put their speed on display as both Howard and Stone recorded run-scoring triples
- On the hill, it was a combined effort with Ian Torpey earning the win
- Sal Batres started for UC Davis and impressed, coming forth with possibly his best outing of his young career, fanning three Gaels across 2.0 innings
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies got on the board fourth inning, securing three runs, which included a notable two-run single by Gouveia to open the scoring.
- The Gaels reduced the deficit to 3-1, but the Aggies extended their lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning, courtesy of a two-out solo home run by Stone against sophomore Adam Enyart
- UC Davis held Saint Mary's scoreless while increasing their lead to 5-1 in the seventh
- The Gaels narrowed the gap to 5-3, but UC Davis bolstered their lead in the ninth inning with four runs, featuring a two-run double by sophomore Ryan Lee, pushing the score to 9-3
- Kaden Hogan entered into the game in the last inning to secure UC Davis' comfortable 9-3 road victory
