LEADING OFF
  • Damian Stone continued to swing a hot-bat driving in four RBIs, finishing the day going 2-for-4 with a home run and double
  • Relief pitcher Zach Romero secured the win for UC Davis, delivering two scoreless innings, allowing just two hits as he improved to 3-1 on the season
  • Andrew LaCour delivered an impressive performance on the mound as well striking out the side in his one inning of work to close out the game
  • Jason Hanson also stood out offensively, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and driving in three runs all by way of his homer
  • Joey Wright added to the Aggies' offense with two hits, a double, and two RBIs in four at-bats
  • UC Davis got on the board first and while the Tigers tied it in the bottom half of the first, the Aggies never relinquished their lead
  • The Aggies made the Pacific pitching staff pay with runners in scoring position, hitting .625 (5-for-8)
  • The Aggies made a concerted effort to grind out each at-bat as they drew eight walks from Pacific's pitchers
  • Freshman Gabe Camacho led Pacific's offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs
  • On the mound for the Tigers, sophomore Ryan Martinez pitched five innings, allowing three runs
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Aggies initiated the scoring with a run in the first inning off the bat of Theo Forshey, who drove in Tyler Howard with a sacrifice fly
  • The Tigers equalized the score at 1-1, but the Aggies quickly regained the lead, making it 4-1 in the second inning
  • The Aggies' offense continued to surge, extending their lead to 8-1 with a productive inning highlighted by a three-run homer from Stone
  • Continuing the offensive outburst, the Aggies further extended their lead to 11-1, thanks to another Aggie three-run home run, this time by Hanson
  • The Tigers narrowed the gap to 11-6, but the Aggies responded in the ninth inning, increasing their lead to 12-6 with junior Alex Gouveia scoring to provide the Aggies a little more insurance
  • In the ninth, LaCour would enter in on the mound for the Aggies and seal the deal recording a strikeout for all three outs of the inning
NOTABLES
  • Stone extended his hitting streak to nine games and during that span has seen his batting average increase to .262
  • The team's eight walks tonight were a season-high
