DAVIS, Calif. —
Grace Gebhardt scored five goals as the UC Davis women's lacrosse team took down St. Bonaventure, 13-9, on Tuesday evening at UC Davis Health Stadium. The win is the Aggies' (4-1) fourth straight, and third at home this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Bonnies got the scoring started, Annie Cimperman and Natalie Markman built the Aggies a lead they would not return. Markman put in another goal to counter St. Bonaventure's offensive response, and received additional support from Gebhardt and Rhea Cosand, who chipped in scores of their own to expand the lead to three, 5-2, at the end of the first quarter.
UC Davis scored three of the game's next four goals with scores from Ella Brislin, Alannah Scott and Gebhardt. After the Bonnies pulled back within four, Gebhardt finished off her first half hat trick for UC Davis' ninth goal of the evening.
The Aggies blanked the visitors in the third quarter, all the while expanding their lead to six with Gebardt's fourth goal and Claire Moats' fifth goal of the season.
St. Bonaventure wasn't done fighting and proved resilient in the fourth quarter, scoring four times in the period before Catie McCauley put in the dagger with under a minute to go.
Gebhardt finished the game with five goals and one assist, which moves her season tally to a team leading 13 goals and seven assists. Alannah Scott had a goal, an assist and six draw controls. Ashley Laing followed up her 16 save performance against Lindenwood with eight tonight.
