TY Johnson, who scored 30 points and led a decisive 9-0 run late in the game, helping silence the home crowd and secure UC Davis' first win of the season with a 79-75 victory over Idaho.
COURT SIDE
- After scoring 35 points in the season opener against Washington, Johnson picked up right where he left off, scoring 30 points on 10-23 shooting from the field
- Johnson's 30-point outburst marks his third consecutive game scoring 30 or more points, dating back to last season's Big West Championship game
- Pablo Tamba contributed a career-high 17 points and two steals, helping lift the Aggies over the Vandals
- Niko Rocak flirted with a near double-double for the second game in a row, adding eight points and nine rebounds
- Rocak led the charge on the glass, grabbing three of UC Davis' 13 offensive rebounds, with the team converting them into 13 second-chance points
- The Aggie defense was a force as well, causing 18 Idaho turnovers on the night
- Those turnovers were converted into 25 points on the other end of the court

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Idaho jumped out to a fast start, with their largest lead being 11 points when they held a 28-17 advantage at the 7:03 mark
- With the score at 31-24 in favor of Idaho, UC Davis went on a 7-0 run with 4:48 left in the first half to tie the game at 31
- Idaho then pulled ahead, sending the Aggies into halftime down 40-37
- Idaho continued to widen its lead after intermission, building a 70-62 advantage before UC Davis went on a 9-0 run, capped by Leo DeBruhl's layup, to seize a 71-70 lead with 2:40 remaining
- The Aggies expanded the margin and utilized timely offensive rebounds to keep the Vandals from responding, securing a 79-75 win
- UC Davis capitalized on 10 Idaho turnovers in the second half, collecting 15 points off those turnovers
