TY Johnson erupted for a career-high 35 points to kick off the new season for UC Davis, but the Aggies fell short on the road against the Huskies, who pulled away late Thursday night at Alaska Airlines Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Washington stormed out to an early advantage, taking a 10-point lead just four minutes into the contest
- The Huskies continued to build their lead, maintaining a 10-point margin nearly halfway through the first half
- UC Davis responded, cutting into Washington's lead. After trailing 24-14, the Aggies went on a 6-0 run with 10:29 left in the first half, narrowing the deficit to 24-20
- The Aggies entered halftime trailing 37-33
- UC Davis carried their momentum into the second half, taking their first lead at the 17:52 mark with a score of 41-38
- Both teams exchanged runs, with Johnson scoring nine consecutive points for UC Davis
- The Huskies responded to Johnson's scoring flurry by tying the game at 53-53, with six different Huskies scoring over the eight-minute stretch
- An ensuing 5-0 run from UC Davis, capped by Chappell's three-pointer, gave the Aggies a 58-53 lead with 7:15 remaining
- Despite Johnson's second-half takeover, Washington regained control, outscoring the Aggies 26-15 the rest of the way to secure a 79-73 victory late
