UC Davis Falls In Five-Set Battle To CSULB

The short story: In a fierce showdown that showcased remarkable skill and determination from both teams, UC Davis battled valiantly against CSULB, ultimately falling in a gripping five-set match. 

FIRST SERVE

  • Allie Caldwell hit .417 on the night. She also added seven digs and finished with a .583 kill percentage. 

  • Junior Jade Light finished with 20 kills, ending the evening hitting .400. Light wrapped up with 24 points, after adding 12 digs. 

  • Sophomore setter Mia Starr finished with 55 assists and she had 10 digs to go along with two service aces

  • Senior Julia Ng finished with a team-high 16 digs

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first set was full of tie points as both teams battled to see who would take the first. Ultimately, the Aggies came out on top. 

  • The 26-24 Aggie first-set win gave them a 1-0 lead in the match. 

  • The Beach returned the favor in the second set, pulling away halfway through the set to take a 25-19 second set victory. 

  • With things tied at 1-1, CSULB would take the third set, 25-21, forcing the Aggies to fight for the fourth set

  • The Aggies led almost the entirety of the fourth set to force set five coming out on top with a score of 25-21. 

  • Set five was a battle with back-and-forth tied points following an attack error by a CSULB player, the Beach went on to take the next two points to win the match 15-13.
