Jake Lively Named Aggie Softball Assistant Coach

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis volunteer assistant Jake Lively has been named a full-time assistant coach, Aggie head coach Erin Thorpe announced.

"We are so excited to announce Jake Lively as our new assistant coach," Coach Thorpe said. "Jake was a big asset to our team last season, and I am so excited to see him expand his role with the program."

The promotion comes after the Division I council voted to turn the volunteer position into paid full-time coaches.

Lively was instrumental in the development of the Aggie infield. In just his first season in 2023, the Ags improved nearly 20 percentage points from the year prior. UCD sported the lowest stolen base percentage against and threw out the most would-be base stealers in the Big West.

Lively came to the Davis dugout as the Co-Founder of LTG (Love The Game) Softball Organization that started in 2012. The organization grew from one team to nine upon his departure.

During his tenure, Lively helped 28 players secure collegiate scholarships. Co-coached two teams primarily in the organization that included current UCD student-athletes Kenedi Brown and Rylie Costa.

His teams finished 2nd, 3rd and 5th at Colorado Fireworks Tournament, and 3rd Place at 16U PGF Premier Nationals. His 16U LTG Henderson/Lively was ranked 4th in the nation.

He also coached at the high school level with stops at Pleasant Grove (2016-17) and most recently, Elk Grove (2018).

Lively graduated from Cal Berkeley in 2013.
