Box Score DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis and Saint Mary's split the first two sets of doubles play, both quick 6-0 results. The decisive matchup on court one, between Aggie duo Andrei Volgin and Mitchell Davis and the Gael partnership of Aidan Watt and Carlos Ramos Membrives, did not disappoint. UC Davis won the battle for the first point of the match in a narrow 8-6 tiebreaker set.

In singles, Lucas Bollinger and Constantinos Djakouris got UC Davis (9-5, 2-0 Big West) off to a nice start with straight set wins. 

Saint Mary's responded with two wins of their own, bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of the Aggies, with two sets yet to be decided. With both Sam De Vries and Andrei Volgin heading to a third set, it seemed the Gaels might be in line to make a remarkable comeback. 

That chance was squashed, however, when Volgin pulled out the win, for himself and his team, in an exciting 7-4 tiebreaker set.

UC Davis turns its sights to Big West rival UC Santa Barbara, who is scheduled to make a Saturday visit to the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Gauchos have been spectacular so far this season, holding a national ranking of 32, which stands in accordance with their 16-2 record.
