Box Score SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sam De Vries, Andras Necz, Brett Brinkman and Andrei Volgin each won their singles matches to power the Aggies to a 4-1 victory over Sacramento State on Wednesday afternoon. The win ensures UC Davis maintains possession of the Causeway Cup for a fourth straight season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sacramento State (12-6, 5-2 Big Sky) opened up the contest with a 1-0 lead, taking the doubles point with 6-4 wins on both courts 1 and 2. The Hornet duo on court 1, Mark Keki and Mate Voros, improved their season doubles record to 9-3. 

A De Vries, 6-0, 6-3, straight set win on court 4 helped kickstart a strong team singles performance for UC Davis (13-6, 5-1 Big West). 

Necz on court 6 and Brinkman on court 3 closed out their matches in straight sets as well, giving the Aggies a 3-1 lead. 

Volgin sealed the Causeway Cup with a 6-3 third set win over Hornet star Mark Keki. Keki is now 11-2 in singles play this season. 

The Aggies roll into next week's Big West Conference tournament having won six of their last seven matches.

UP NEXT
The Big West tournament is all that remains on the Aggies' 2023 schedule. Depending on how seeding shakes out, the next match is on either Friday, April 28 or Saturday, April 29 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego. A Friday match would mean UC Davis is the third seed and must play a quarterfinal match, while the top two seeds advance straight to the semifinal on Saturday.
