DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis track & field team will hit the road for the first time this season as the Aggies head to Stanford for the Cardinal Classic. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, March 18, at the Cobb Track & Angell Field.
The Aggies were originally slated to head to Sacramento State for the Hornet Invite but track conditions caused the last-minute change to enter the Cardinal Classic.
LAST TIME OUT
UC Davis opened the 2023 outdoor season at the Aggie Open. The wet and windy conditions did not deter the Ags as they claimed 19 individual titles.
Corey Moore won two events as he outdistanced the field in the shot put and discus with marks of 50-8.75 (15.46m) and 160-2 (48.83m), respectively. Newcomer
Maya Shinnick was a part of three event victories, claiming the 400m title and running legs on the victorious 4x1 and 4x4 relays.
Chelsea Daye opened her season with an impressive mark in the long jump, leaping to victory with a 19-2.75 (5.86m).
THE FIELD
Host Stanford will welcome a plethora of schools, mainly from California. The Aggies will be going up against the likes of Cal, Hawai'i, BYU, San Jose State, Fresno Pacific, Sonoma State, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay, Pacific, San Francisco, UC Santa Cruz, and teams from the JUCO ranks.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Aggies will head to the prestigious Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invite at UCLA. The meet will begin on Friday, March 24.
