Davis, Calif. — Entering the month of March, with a record of 17-12, and 10-7 in Big West play, the UC Davis Men's Basketball Team will have a pair of home games at the University Credit Union Center to cap off the regular season. At 10-7 the Aggies are currently sixth in the standings and will look to extend their winning streak to three against UC Santa Barbara. A win Thursday night would greatly increase their chances of securing that vital top-six finish the Aggies are hoping to achieve.

LAST TIME
The Aggies picked up a gritty 58-52 win on the road at Cal Poly this past Saturday. In that game the Aggies limited the Mustangs to an 18.2 percent showing from three, and had the help of four double digit scorers. UC Davis had help from Kane Milling who recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Last game also saw Elijah Pepper score 20 points and in the process, break a 35 year old record for most points scored in a single season in UC Davis history.

SCOUTING THE GAUCHOS
The Aggies will face off against one of the top teams in the Big West in the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos who enter the night with two straight wins themselves. Led by a Big West Player of the Year candidate in Ajay Mitchell and former Oregon Duck Miles Norris, the Gauchos have one of the most formidable teams in the conference and still sit tied for first, even after suffering a three-game losing streak during the middle weeks of February.

The Gauchos are led by Head Coach Joe Pasternack who is in his sixth year with UC Santa Barbara. The Gauchos use a blend of stifling defense, paired with efficiency on the offensive end to wear teams down. Ranking 10th in the country in field goal percentage, and 41st in scoring defense, UC Davis will look to counteract these strengths by getting after it on the glass, and forcing the Gauchos to beat them from range, as they rank near the bottom of the country in both attempts and makes from behind the arc.

The Gauchos hold a 36-12 all-time series advantage over the Aggies with the last game being a 84-74 win for UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 11.

SCOUTING THE BEACH
Long Beach State will enter the University Credit Union Center Saturday afternoon and the game will hold a ton of weight in regards to seedings for the Big West Championships. Led by Head Coach Dan Monson who is in his 16th season with Long Beach State, The Beach are one of the best rebounding teams in the nation.

Ranking third in rebounds per game and putting out a prolific offense day in and day out, The Beach rank in the top-20 in all meaningful rebounding categories while having the 68th ranked scoring offense, pouring in 76.2 points per game. With Marcus Tsohonis carrying the load offensively, Lassina Traore is the man on the cleanup crew, averaging a Big West leading  10.3 rebounds per game.

The Beach also hold a 25-12 all-time series advantage over the Aggies with the last game being a 75-72 win for Long Beach State on Jan. 28.

ONE LAST GO AROUND
With seeding more than likely hinging on the final regular season game against Long Beach State, the Aggies will also be using this game to honor a special class of seniors. Saturday will be the last home game for Christian Anigwe and Patrick Lambey. With a ceremony set to take place before tip-off the Aggie family will be honoring all that Christian, and Patrick have contributed to UC Davis Men's Basketball and to the community of UC Davis.

NEXT UP
The Aggies will look ahead to March 7 and the Big West Championships in Henderson, Nevada. With seeding still up in the air, UC Davis controls their own destiny and will determine if they are back in action either March 7 or March 8.
