SPOKANE – For the second straight day, UC Davis had a student-athlete stand atop the podium as Brianna Weidler won the 3,000m Mountain Pacific Sports Federation individual title on Saturday. The Aggies finished the championship in sixth place with 72.50 points.

On the heels of Sierra Atkins winning the 5,000m on the opening day of the championship, Weidler led an Aggie contingency that claimed three of the top 10 spots in the event. The reigning Big West Cross Country champion crossed the line in 9:34.27 to win the event by nearly five seconds. Madison Kackley followed in third with a 9:39.74 and Emma Hicken was ninth at 9:57.91.

Also on the track, the UCD 4x400m relay of Alexys Ford, Kerrington Smith, Maya Shinnick and Lauren Medley placed fifth with a 3:50.99.

The Aggies also impressed on the field as Smith took runner-up honors in the triple jump with a leap of (12.14m) 39-10.00. That mark is her best in an Aggie uniform and ranks tied for third in the program indoor record book. Aiza Sarwar UC Davis followed in ninth at (10.82m) 35-06.00.

In the high jump the Ags took three of the top eight spots, led by a third-place finish from Sierra Meier. Meier cleared (1.67m) 5-05.75 as Jayme Hendrickson (1.62m / 5-03.75) was fifth and Elizabeth Churchill (1.57m / 5-01.75) was eighth.

UC Davis will open the outdoor season when they host the Aggie Open on Saturday, March 11.
