LAST WEEK
Megan Norris exploded for a career-high 21 points to lead UC Davis past its Causeway rivals, Sacramento State, Tuesday night inside the Nest.
The Aggies (2-3) were firing on all cylinders, shooting 50.8% as a team with 22 assists on 30 made field goals in the 79-67 win over the Hornets. Norris had undoubtedly the best night of her collegiate career, racking up 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting while grabbing a team-high eight boards.
Evanne Turner made history once again, scoring 16 points to place herself in the top 10 all-time on the UC Davis women's basketball scoring list. With 1,246 points in her career, she passes her head coach
Jennifer Gross to ascend to 10th on the list.
ABOUT THE BRONCOS
Boise State (5-1) has enjoyed a solid start to the 2023-24 season, winning five of its first six contests to start the year. The Broncos defeated Big West members UC Riverside 63-55 and are undefeated on its home floor in the young season. Head Coach Gordy Presnell is in his 19
th season with the Broncos and he has taken them to the NCAA Tournament six times during his tenure.
Natalie Pasco leads the team in scoring at 13.5 points-per-game and Mya Hansen has finished in double figures four times, averaging 9.5 points-per-game. The Boise State defense has been strong, holding opponents to just 33.1% from the floor through its first six contests.
ABOUT THE COUGARS
The reigning PAC-12 Tournament champions, Washington State, will host the Aggies for Friday night's contest in Pullman. The Cougars finished just outside the top-25 of the most recent AP poll, receiving 55 votes. Winners of seven of its first eight games to open the year, Washington State finally suffered its first defeat of the season in the final game of the Cancun Challenge, falling 59-48 to Green Bay.
Charlisse Leger-Walker has impressed in her senior season, leading the team at 14.1 points-per-game and has shown a good all-around game as she went for a triple double (11 pts, 15 reb, 13 ast) in the team's win over Maryland. Bella Murekatete is averaging 13.6 points-per-game and has made a huge impact on the boards with her 6.9 rebounds-per-game.
SERIES NOTES
The all-time series against Boise State is tied at 2-2 as the Aggies evened up the series with last season's 69-62 win in Davis.
UC Davis and Washington State have met six times in another series that is evenly split at 3-3. The last meeting came in 2021 when the Cougars grabbed a 71-49 victory inside the University Credit Union Center.

The UC Davis women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the league standings, and received three first-place votes according to a vote by the league's coaches.

THE DYNAMIC DUO
Evanne Turner and
Tova Sabel make up one of the best scoring duos in the nation as they combined to average 27.0 points-per-game last season. The two guards made up 41.9% of the total scoring output and will look to lead the UC Davis offense again during the 2023-24 season.
BAUGH JOINS COACHING STAFF
Former WNBA player and Sacramento native,
Vicki Baugh, joins
Jennifer Gross' staff as an assistant coach. The Sacramento native was a standout for the University of Tennessee, reaching the NCAA Tournament in all four of her playing seasons with the Lady Volunteers.
She won a national championship with the squad in the 2007-08 season before battling injuries for the next two years. Baugh battled back to enjoy an excellent end to her collegiate career, leading her team to back-to-back SEC titles and Elite Eight finishes in the NCAA Tournament. In her senior season, Baugh capped off her career in the college ranks by leading the Lady Vols in shooting percentage.
HOME IS WHERE THE WINS ARE
The Aggies are now 76-16 on their home floor over the past five-plus years, winning 30 of their last 39 and posting a winning record at home in each of the last nine campaigns.
THREE-POINT QUEEN
By netting her 196th career three-pointer on Jan. 16 against UC San Diego,
Evanne Turner broke the UC Davis program record for three-point field goals. Lori Hurlburt held the previous record, making 194 from 1997-2001. She has made 229 for her career and continues to extend her lead at the top of the list.
SVANHOLM RETURNS FOR SENIOR SEASON
Truly embodying the essence of the student-athlete is
Lena Svanholm of UC Davis women's basketball. The forward has excelled tremendously off the court, as she was recently accepted into UC Davis' Ph.D program for Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Svanholm has announced that she will return for her 'last dance' in the 2023-24 campaign, becoming the only known active NCAA Division I women's basketball student-athlete to be enrolled in such a program.
