FLAGSTAFF – The UC Davis football team (4-4, 2-3) fell on the road at Northern Arizona (3-5, 2-3), 38-21, Saturday afternoon at Findlay Toyota Field.
In the loss, a couple Aggies posted career-bests. For the first time since 2019, two UCD receivers had over 100 yards through the air.
Trent Tompkins had his best pass-catching contest in an Aggie unform, hauling in eight passes for 148 yards and a score. He also posted 231 all-purpose yards, adding 32 rushing, 37 on kickoff returns and 14 on punts.
Chaz Davis was also a threat on the outside for the Aggies as he caught eight passes for a career-high 121 yards.
Quarterback
Miles Hastings threw for 327 yards with two scores.
Lan Larison returned from injury to rush 24 times for 101 yards.
Evan Tattersall led the defensive effort with nine tackles and a hurry.
Jehiel Budgett added four tackles and picked off a pass.
The Aggies out-gained the Lumberjacks, 476-289, and commanded the time of possession at 36:18, but four turnovers turned into 13 NAU points.
Trailing 17-13 at the half, the lone points in the second half came on a Davis 34-yard strike from Hastings. The Lumberjacks outscored the Aggies, 21-8 after the break.
Despite only allowing 80 total yards in the first half, the Aggies found themselves in a four-point deficit at the intermission.
UC Davis started their scoring when Tompkins took a Hastings pass 75 yards to pull the Ags to within a 10-7 margin early in the second quarter.
Hunter Ridley evened the score at 10 with a 35-yard field goal and then added a 24-yarder right before the half.
UC Davis returns home to face Portland State on Saturday, Nov. 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at UC Davis Health Stadium.
